It is noted that the movie will be a sequel to the animated series of the same name, which was released in 1989-1990. In the story the picture chipmunks Chip and Dale, along with other animated characters live in the "real world". The friends were "actors" in a detective show, but they retired and began to lead a boring everyday life. Chip took a job as an insurance agent, and Dale decided on a "CGI operation" to regain his former relevance.
Chip was voiced by comedian John Mulaney and Dale by Andy Samberg ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine-Nine"). The comedy was directed by Akiva Shaffer, who previously worked on Saturday Night Live.
Everything changes when the Chip and Dale learn of their old buddy's disappearance. They set out to solve the case to save their lives.
